Having written and recorded the music for this track, Thom sent it to Mat in order to write a possible melody and lyrics. Later that afternoon, Mat returned the finished product to Thom, which became "Atoner" off the Atoner EP. This is the vocal only track that Mat recorded and saved. Mat had a cold when he wrote and recorded this part, and was, at the time, very unhappy with the way his voice sounded, especially after the track appeared on Pitchfork.
